Find out what the source is? is it friends who are jealous of you'lls relationship or is it a reliable source who you trust. most of all confront him with the situation tell him what you have heard and ask why people would say that about him. if he can not give a decent answer, then start to be suspicicous.

Sweety, honestly i've been there and it really would help to ask and confront him about it, or if your close with someone he always hangs out with ask them they are sure to tell you, hopefully!!

confront him, just dont rely on others opinions, and respond to people who say this to you with, "that was before he met me" dont let anyone get the best of you!
