my sense of hearing seems bionic!! I can hear tiny squeaks from mice outside, noises the cats make when they walk, even my husband's footsteps on grass behind me from a distance. I am super-sensitive to sound! I wear glasses..do you think my auditory senses are enhanced because my vision is limited? (Not THAT limited, mind you, I can walk around without my specs.)

Oh, PS, this all started after I went to the doctor for headaches, and they gave me some meds for them. After that I have been really sensitive to sounds. But this was ten years ago!!! (That I had the meds).

I have had this hearing thing since I was a teenager, exactly as you described and more. Mother and I use to go in a Sears store, and every time I complained of hearing a high pitch ring. Finally my mom ask a sales clerk, if anyone had complained of this when entering the store. The clerk said yes, it's our alarm system and a few people are so sensitive they can hear this high pitched ring. I can also smell rain coming, and this is not unusual, I live in the country. And lots of times us country folks can be standing around, and talking about being able to smell the rain coming.

I think you're right. I'm legally blind in one eye. I always have been. I've been told that when a man reaches the age of 30 to 35, there hearing starts to go down hill. I'm 57 now, and when I take a hearing test, I hear things that are not suppose to be audible by the human ear. I live in the country, and I can hear a car coming down the road from almost a mile away, when I'm in the house. When you lose, or don't have one sense, the others ones kick in. Sometimes to the extreme like ours has.

It's OK, some people are more sensitive than others. And the explanation might be that you have extremely healthy and clean ears, and live most of the time in a quiet environment, without loud traffic and other distracting noises. Because exposure to loud noises de-sensitizes ears for a while.

You must have some embarassing insights into others private conversations then.
My hearing is also embarassingly good as far as my family is concerned and has been for years yet I have only needed reading glasses recently and can see long distance unaided.
However my hearing is not directional which makes other sounds intrude on normal conversation, making normal conversation difficult and people whispering during meetings intensely annoying. I often catch the wife and her mother plotting things when I am in annother room and they do not know I am there!

You havn't met him in a year of knowing each other so it really isn't a dating relationship. I wouldn't bother going to see him. He as obviously moved on and you should too. You can't spend your life waiting to go there or for him to come to you. Don't get furious at his new girl, it's too exhausting to sustain any sort of anger. Get over him and find someone closer to home who loves you.

I suppose you are more sensitive to sounds. I can smell snow coming, so it's not unusual.

I read somewhere that if you wear glasses they can actually hear better as well.
