If I mistype a domain name in my address bar, my browser (IE 6.0)goes to one of many pages which are full of links to porn & other trash sites.

It also happens if I type just a word or phrase without an extention. It used to be my browser would do a google search for it. Now, it goes to one of these d%#@ links pages.

Some pages it goes to are Hotproductz.com, Websheart.com & Qwerty.com. Also, Wwwcontact2424.com, Only-sexpics.com, Girl-virgin.com, etc, all with identical content.

I can't tell what page is actually hijacking my browser because the address bar only shows whatever I typed in, misspelled domain name or whatever.

I have McAfee security suite running & monitoring my system (A/V, Firewall & Privacy Keeper). I've also run McAfee anti-virus scan, spybot S&D, and Ad-Aware repeatedly, but the problem remains.

Can someone tell me what #^$@ hijacked my browser and how? How can I check my system or find out more info about this? And how can I get rid of it?

Thanks!

I in basic terms d/l the Kerio Firewall-i like it! it truly is beats the tar out of homestead windows firewall. i develop into at one time utilising the firewall outfitted into my Iolo anti-virus, whether it develop into in basic terms too, too complicated. I certainly have "beefy risk-free practices", as one tech informed me, yet this Kerio is a huge addition. i'm no longer plenty for secret agent-bot (had it), it develop into giving me a great form of fake positives and it develop into additionally examining my SpyOnThis as being a situation-it is not-it truly is anti-spyware scanner/remover. on the secret agent-bot I had to place each little thing back in that it deleted as there have been some issues that have been valid applications and Spybot disabled some significant issues. I then cleared this gadget out, rebooted, and ran my SpyOnThis. Browser hijackers are insidious and nasty. I as quickly as had to thoroughly restoration my gadget to production facility because of the fact of one (this develop into earlier I had the SpyOnThis. It stored replicating itself interior my gadget, even on deletion. i ought to locate it on the HiJackThis log, yet could no longer each and all the factors on my gadget; have faith me, i attempted. on condition that I have been given the SOT, it eliminates each little thing, completely and thoroughly. the only prob with SOT is that ya would desire to pay for it. Oh properly, it develop into worth it.

Check your add-ons Click on Tools ->Manage Add-Ons. In that list, find programs you don't recognise and diable them by selecting one and at the bottom select Disable. then restart your browser and try your search again.

Change the hosts file, as described here:

http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

Then use Spybot Search and destroy.
