That was done when the life expectancy was much lower and the world was a lot less complicated. I also don't think there's a lot of people from 35-50 that could take on that much responsibility. In other words, how about 50 as a mininum age?

It doesn't really matter - the last time someone under that age of 40 ran on a major party ticket was 1896, and the last time someone under 45 ran was 1960. Regardless of the legal age, nobody that young tends to run.

I'm quite satisfied with the age of 35. You're right, there aren't many that are up to the task of being President, but that wouldn't change if they were 35 or 50. Look at Bill Gates, and others who have done tremendous things in their lives by the time they were 35.

I agree with you about raising the minimum age for the president of the US . Fifty would be a reasonable minimum age in my book, but I doubt that many would agree, so I would settle for forty-eight.

Age is irrelevant.

There should be a minimum IQ to become President. Also, Presidents-elect should have to take a drug & alcohol test, too.

I believer that 43 (JFK) is the youngest we've had for a President, so 35 has never been in question. People just won't accept somebody they think is too immature or inexperienced. So I think we have other issues to talk about...

I don't agree, if the majority votes for an individual to be the elected president, that person should be the elected president

It's a thought. I think perhaps 50 as a minimum IQ might be good, too.

Lowered to18 old enough to fight and die old enough to be president .
This might help get some honest polticians in office .
I remember when i was young and you could not get me to change my mind for nothing once it was made up .NO amount of promises or rewards would work .

Age shouldn't have anything to do with it. An unexperienced candidate of any age will not be elected (or else we might as well trash the whole system)
