Yes.

I took 3.5 years to finish my B.S. in Computer Science. I recently heard that someone finished his double major at Yale in a year. 4 years is the norm. However, the length of time to complete your study will depend on how many classes you can manage simultaneously and whether you attend classes during summer semesters.

Because computer technology is changing all the time, continue education (whether formally in classes/workshop or self study) is important.

There are so many different applications and industries that a computer science major could find find work. Even within the same organization, you could find computer science major taking on roles focusing on software, hardware, networking, operations etc. An entry level starts at $30k-$40k these days.

People who really enjoy the field tend to be:
- more intraverted than extraverted
- analytical
- goal oriented
- organized and could get upset when others aren't as organized
- enjoy a certain level of repititiveness

There are many career choices even if you do find yourself not enjoying pure computer science, technical nature types of role. I know many ex-computer science major who went into marketing and technical sales.

Best wishes.

It takes about 4 years. It's hard to give advice in this area without knowing more about you. Are you working with computers on your own right now? Are you an analytical type? Do you like math, coding, debugging, documentation, etc? It's a good field with a lot of opportunity.
