I'm struggling in my 8th Grade Advanced Science Class, because I just seem to have a problem with Mr. Brooks' tests!
No matter how long I study, I have not made above a 79 on any of four tests.
I need study tips. What should I do?
I already make flashcards.
I seem to always know the matierial, but I can't answer correctly on the tests?
I want to know methods of studying.
What do you do when you study?
I'm willing to try anything. I NEED HELP !

I usually recopy my notes. That way I'm forced to really pay attention to what I'm writing & I think it sinks in better than when I just read my notes, as I can get distracted. Study groups help me, too.

i hated tests, even the HSC, i got nervous and would mess up a question without even thinking.
It seems that it comes down to being mentally prepared. You know your work, all you have to do is think, its only a test its not the end of the world-even though it may be!
Make studying fun and yes flash cards work, but try another method, summaries, on A4 pages, make a summary of each topic and sub topics and colour code the information.

You can eitehr be a colour or a diagram person, i was a diagram with coloures person.
I had to use highlighters to make things stand out and put diagrams when i couldnt' remember things. They make us think " The stuff about the animals was pink, and the information about light was yellow"

Friends can help, but sometimes they make it harder, just make sure you repeat it all, and practice the exams after you get teh papers back. Sit in a room at school with a teacher at the front, and practice the exam, the teacher will understand and may even have a spare copy of the exam for you to do. Practice in an exam situation, totally quite, no distraction, around people you wouldn't normally sit with in class.
Make sure you drink lots of water and eat a good meal before the exam and a few days before, fish are excellent the night before an exam, and have fruit and veg snakes before and after the exam. And have a snack such as a chocolate or an ice cream after the exam, to reward yourself, and go for a run to reward your brain.
Good Luck!!

I sometimes get a friend to help me, and it's like time passes faster, and it's easier with someone helping. Or I'll go through all my notes.
Do you get nervous when taking tests?
