When the male vocal chords are obviously meant for a much deeper tone and sound, it just seems unnatural to me. For that matter why do most Homosexuals behave in a very effeminate manner? Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Homosexuality, in fact I know some guys who are gay but act like, well, men. In other words you wouldn't know that they were gay by there behaviour. And I have nothing but respect for them, their lifestyle is their own.. But it just seems "forced" when a man acts like a woman. Opinions welcomed:)

I am homosexual and I abhor this practice. It is an affect that some gay men use to attract hyper masculine tops. This is a very small and unfortunately very vocal minority.
Most homosexuals do not do this.
G0ys are very against effeminate behavior.

I think some gays speak effeminately to let other men know they are gay. They figure if they didn't men would assume they were straight and they would not get asked for their phone numbers nearly as much.

In 70 years of being gay and living in ny and San Francisco and Montreal, I easily have not in any respect met a gay guy with the shape of voice instantly human beings imagine we've. you only prefer to get out better.

Why do some women speak in tiny little squeaky voices and others with deep voices? There are sopranos, mezzos, and contraltos, tenors and basses. It's just a fact of life, get over it.

Sometimes gay guys just talk like that. It's not like they have control. It would be too obvious for gay guys to change the pitch of their voice.

most homosexual men act like, well, men. why? because they are. do you actually know any gay/lesbians at all or do you just believe in all the stereotypes you see in movies and tv? I know very few men who speak that way.
why do ignorant people always believe in stereotypes and resort to generalizations?

Why does Russell Crowe speak with a husky, masculine voice and Michael Jackson speaks in a girly falsetto?
Both men claim to be heterosexual.
Who cares?
