Has anyone had good/bad comments about using Home Depot installation to do replacement windows? or Should I go with the local guy, and cheaper price?

Home depot uses local contractors whom work for them at a lower price due to all the work they send their way. Home depot gets it's little cut of the pie as well, but when you go through them you also have their warranty, not just joe schmoe's walk away warranty. Cost will be about the same either way or it should be anyhow. The other guy is right cheaper isn't always better. I'd pay Home Depot the extra juice just for the piece of mind of them standing behind it. Their sub contractors all have to be insured and/or bonded too...... your cousin joe's uncle down the street will do it half price but isn't either one!

The company I work for is a well established licensed contractor in north Florida. We have dealt with HD. We no longer deal with them. The last I knew, they had a national firm that handled every thing after the sale, including the measures. This never played well with OUR installs. Their "measurers" are instructed to measure one way and one way only. Not taking into account that for the most part all homes should be measured on a case by case basis. Inevitably, most of their windows were small to our standards. Which ment we always had to add wood to the RO to meet local codes. You can always find reputable contractors that also sell the product they install. With a little investigation you`ll find it is possible th eliminate the middle man, and still insure a quality install. Check with your BBB

I had a quote from home depot for 34 vynal replacement windows.
$ 14600 and 16800 for two different types of windows.

Instead I purchased from remodelrs supply house in chicago(they make windows) for $5400 and paid 2550 for installation to a local guy.

Numbers speak. you save.
