the germs will transfer to whatever touches the dirty surface, but it's not likely they are going to crawl up the side of the glass and sneak into your drink. They will stay on the bottom.

Yes! and they jump in your hair when you walk past and they crawl in your ears.... then they feed on your dead skin while you sleep then ...... oh im only kidding! i dont know if they jump but even if they do just clean the side, how dirty can it be if its in a kitchen? why would you put clean stuff onto a drity side? even if the germs dont jump the dirt might stick!
