What would you do to balance the federal budget?

Question

The present deficit is 315 billion. The USA's total debt is 8 trillion dollars! At the present rate of undisciplined spending, the debt will hit 10 trillion dollars by 2012.

How would YOU balance the budget?

Personally, I'd end the Iraq campaign, and repeal the Bush tax cuts for the rich.

If these two things were done, the budget would be balanced.

Get rid of George Bush and make him take his supply side economic with him. It has never worked and yet every repuglican swears by it. I would try to build a consumer driven economy like Bill Clinton did. He or his advisers were pure genius as how he did it. If you have a stack of three boxes setting on the floor and you want to move them you lift from the bottom. If you lift from the top only one box moves, the top box, but if you lift the bottom box all three boxes move. Hey I saw America go from the huge deficit of the Reagan 80's to a booming economy in the 90's because of this, it would work again.

I would drastically cut entitlements mainly social security and raise taxes. It may be unpleasant, but the debt is the 800 pound gorilla in the room that nobody wants to address. Sooner or later we'll have to deal with it and mostly likely entitlement cuts and tax increases might be the only solution.

I would start taxing sex acts by politicians. That would pay off the deficit, the debt and save Social Security in one shot. (Well 2 or 3 years anyways.)

you're a bit of a fool H-1, you can't cut SS, it's not an "entitlement", it's money that comes out of an individuals paycheck, you are just giving money that's already theirs back to them with interest, you can't "cut" it, that would be theft
