Over all, love does not hurt. What that means is, if you are still in love with this person, and they either break up with you, die, or even have to go out of town for a spell. It is your heart that hurts, whatever the "reason" for their absence.Hope this answered your question.

Of course you're happy when everything is going right and it just started. That's how it was for me. When things got rough though, the more it hurts. People are always happy when things are going smoothly. When they aren't, well...they aren't happy.

love doesn't always hurt,it can be great,you can be extremely happy,have great times ,be at peace,enjoy love to the fullest, and then yes it can hurt like hell,but u can get over that too

I do not think that they mean love hurts when you are in it!
Only if you lose it. Through whatever means it happens.
And then it is physical as well as emotional pain you feel.
