What do you think of the job. Personally I sooooo prefer it to propper teaching because I hate lots of assessment and planning etc. Then again, I'm not quite getting enough work as I would like. What are the perks and downfalls for you?

Sorry my American friends! Supply teaching is the same as substitute teaching in the UK.

i've never heard of it so i was currious, i will check back to see what i can learn. AHHHH! i have been a sub for three years.... the down side is that you do not have your own classroom, the kids think they can walk on you, and it is more like babysitting than teaching, also the pay is not so great..... the up side is i can choose what days i want to work, where i want to work and which grades i will except. it is very flexable in that regaurd.

I am a perapatetic music teacher I could never become a full time primary school or secondaryschool teacher coz the national curiculum sux. Too much time wasting and not enough teaching. In one of the schools I teach they told me this week that they needto make a report on how the children get to school each day - what a waste of time.

Downfall: They pay is not enough to support a family on.

Btw, in most cases you still have to do assessments they are just different kinds of assessments. They are more observational based.

Perks: You play with kids all day but make sure you have the patiences for endless questions.

I love teaching kindergarten. It keeps me young! The kids haven't learned to be disrespectful yet (for the most part) and the parents are mostly still new at the whole school thing too!
