i been now looking up the answer to this question for way to long online and in my book and i am giving up so i thought maybe somebody out there might be able to help please help i been doing hw for way to long

question is: Compare the Greek temple the parthenon to the Egyptian temple of amon-re at karnak. how did the egyptian temple influence the greek? how did it differ? how can it be said that the greek temple embodies elements of greek philosophy?

Do you have an art history book? If not, may I suggest Janson's History of Art. There are all kinds of references to the Greek temples, especially.

Ask at your local public library.

Some suggestions in the meantime:

1) Check the columns and the pediments. How do they compare?
2) Which temple came first? Did the Greeks know about the Egyptian temple first? Or, did the Greeks BRING the architectural influence with them to Egypt?
3) The Parthenon was constructed in the 5th century B.C.
That means it was an Hellenic temple. What are the principles
of philosophy for that time period? You may want to check your book under Plato/Socrates. Remember - harmony, balance and symmetry.
