How did anyone get ahold of IM's that are years old? How'd they do that?
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they bagged the creep.
But it does have me wondereing how private things like IM's are.

Any thoughts?

Exposure of personal data is justified if there exist a crime or misdemeanor. Thus, intrusion into the public life of Foley was legal to let the people know that what he did was wrong.

You can archive your IM's. It's an option. I'm not computer expert, but I assume they are saved to your IM account not to your pc, so someone could get to them if they wanted to. Or at least that's what they're saying.

It was a set up. He was an easy mark. Never put anything on the web you aren't prepared to see on TV.

im's are not private at all since one can archive them.
