Well, I love St Pete's a whole lot more - and that's a common opinion. However, the climate there is far from being good for your health. So, if you don't have any health issues that can be worsened by the humidity of the area, you should go to St Pete's for sure. It's absolutely amazing!

Also, consider Nizhny Novgorod. It's the 3rd largest city, I suppose. Not so crowded and quite beautiful.

I agree with marie, Plus the police seem to hassle foreigners more, for shakedowns, than St Pete. I think things are generally cheaper in St Pete aswell.
It's also only 15 euros or so to take a bus to Tallinn in Estonia, which is a fantastic country and a breath of fresh air away from the dull faces, but beatiful girls of Russia.
Don't forget to drink lots of Baltika No.9 early in the morning!

St. Petersburg is a grand beautiful city, but the climate can be nasty (cold and built on a swamp.) Probably Moscow would be a lot more fun.

I've been to both. They are both beautful cities...but if i had to pick one, it would be St.Petersbourg.... Moscow is too crowded and people are soo mean if you dont speak their language!!

Hope this helps
