well.. i think those that say age is just a number is either talking of thier seriously older or younger spouse/boyfriend/girlfirend or they are trying to be nice to a person getting on in the years when they are starting to feel the effects of gravity in the morning LOL When it comes to education.. book smarts, yes there are smarter people that are 18 than 60.. however wisdom and general knowledge... you cannot learn that but with years.

Age is just a number when it comes to certain things in life. However things that have to do with the law age means more then a number.
There are lots of 18 years old's who know more then the 30 or 50 years old. Think about it, today schools teach students things 50 year old's never did learn about. Things are changing and the younger generation are alot wiser then most give them credit for. I know when the older people have problems with computers or other electronics they call on the younger generations to help them. Kids today bring home math homework and ask their parents for help and their parents can't help them cause they was not taught that in school or in life.
How do you know if people on here are really 60? You don't that's the thing with the Internet you never know if anyone is really telling the truth on here. My self I am 19 and my husband is 36.

It depends on what part of the country you are living in. Some areas produce smarter people than others. It all depends on what smarts you are talking about. Book smarts and street smarts. I live in a rural community where we don't have street violence,so someone that lives in a city would have more street smarts than I do in that area. We don't lock our cars or homes at night and we leave the windows wide open(sometimes even the front door). You wouldn't do this in a city. Age doesn't really matter when it comes to smarts. Your always going to be smarter than someone younger or older.
As far as the age thing goes you never know who's lying. Take it all with a grain of salt.

I'm not 60 yet, but feel about the same physically as I did 20 or even 30 years ago. Experience can't help but teach us a few things along the way. But as far as age being a “number”, I thought everyone was talking about how we feel, not think!

You do understand that you answered your own question? Age IS just a number. A genius isn't made but born. A 50 year old can be stupid and immature. Someone who never had a formal education can be a shining intellect as well as the opposite being true.

I am fifty-six and I have no reason to lie. I love it, being retired is nice, now I can work because I want to and not because I have to so I volunteer.
