How do you become emo?????

Some of my friends at school are saying that their emo!
im not that sure what it means. can you tell me

Emo is a branch of goth, and is shorthand for emotional. Anyone who tells you otherwise doesn't know what they're talking about. And if they can't tell you what it means, then they have no business in that lifestyle. Most kids these days are posers and just using the title because it's "cool" and all the boybands are doing it. Goth (emo or not) is about being individual and true to yourself. What it is not is following the crowd because it's the "in" thing.

Either you are or you aren't. It's not something that you wake up one morning and decide you're going to try out or become.

EMOtion. If you're gloomy, you show it, and it doesn't make you goth. If you're happy, you show it, and it doesn't make you seem too upitty and perky... yeah, just feel however you feel, and with emo its OK.

As to how you become emo, well, you either are or you're not. Why must highschoolers migrate into such silly classifications?!!

Also I should now mention that cutting your wrists, or any part of your anatomy, is not part of it. All cliches do this, and oddly enough, a recent study showed that it's mostly the preppy rich kids.

It means they "pretend" to be very intense, depressed and EMOTIONAL. Thats what the kids say, do me a favor-- be yourself, join a sport or the drama club!! Those kinds of kids get in trouble and you sound too smart to be an "emo" anyway!!!

when your emo....look theres two kind,
the deprssed kind
and the normal kind
but emo people do wierd things they feel bad for their self
you'll no if you emo....you just have to feel anger you cant calm and be depressed

its like a style, you know, like punk goth. you can google emo, and look at pictures...those are emo kids... theres even a song...lol...its just a term short for emotional...but it more of a style now..

1st>start listening to Good Charlotte, Hawthorne Heights, etc.
2nd>start wearing all black clothing (dye your hair black if possible)
3rd>Act like you hate your (obviously wealthy, fair, normal) parents, even though they do nothing but support you.
4th>Pretend to defy authority (but blame others when you get caught)
5th>If you are a male you MUST wear makeup and girls jeans...there is no other way
6th>If you are a female wear black eyeliner and always walk around with sad looks on your face
7th>Pretend to be miserable on the outside even though you have a perfectly good life and are completely happy on the inside.
