Not any time soon. Don't get me wrong. I'm sure there are plenty of capable women who would be wonderful in the job. Now WOULD be a great time for our first women president as I don't think "W" is going to be a hard act to follow or outshine.

Come to think of it, it maybe a great time for our first Collie president, or first chimpanzee president. I'm sure either of those would stack up well against our beloved current Commander in Chief. But I digress.

Back to your question. As I said I believe there are plenty of capable women who could be a good President. Let's hope the American people are not dumb enough to elect someone based on the fact that they seem likable on TV, as one of the other people answering your question suggested. (Oprah) Sure, let's elect Oprah, maybe she's give us all a new car!!! Good Lord! Oprah IS a smart woman, and I'm betting she's smart enough to know she would have no idea how to be President...unlike W, but again I digress.

You know why a woman won't be President any time soon? Because WOMEN will not vote for her. The Dems will more than likely run Hillary and she will lose and we will be stuck with another Republican administration for another 4-8 years....PLEASE, PLEASE don't let it be Bush III.

Yes, there is no reason why a woman could be president of the U.S. as our laws and constitution treats men & women equally. Of course, women still have a large battle to sway enough voters to actually land the job. Hillary may have a chance since she Dubba is a lame duck, otherwise I would say its still a decade or two before enough people would back a woman against an equally qualified canidate.

I think a woman could be president of the US; it may not happen soon though for a number of reasons - the expense, the culture of the presidential elections (sexism, etc.).

BC had a woman premier briefly as well as Canada briefly having a female prime minister; unfortunately, a lot of things were against them succeeding in an election (baggage from their parties, sexism etc.).

oh man am I going to tick people off with this one - I am a woman and I can say that I wouldn't have alot of confidence in a woman president. We are emotional beings and tend to base all (or at least alot) of our decisions on how we FEEL about something. We tend to be impulsive and very, very, very INDECISIVE by nature. True, not 100% of the time - not in all cases, but if you look at our natures and tendencies, I don't think you can argue with me totally.

And if Hillary was ever elected, I have to figure out which country my family is moving to!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you ever had a woman for a boss? Women suck in positions of leadership.

(I won't be voting for Hiliary if she runs.)
