Well, I think Klose deserves to win!!! If we look at WC, CL and domestic league............he was the top scorer of WC and Bundesliga, semi-final WC, Werder was second in Bundesliga, German Footballer of the Year 2006........... Ronaldinho sucked in WC, Cannavaro and Zidane were good ONLY in WC....

If you look at every World Cup year, the winner has come from the Champions. 1994, Romario, 1998, Zidane, 2002, Ronaldo, 1990, Mattheus, 1986, Maradona.

It is almost certain that Cannavaro will win, unless between now and December, he makes an extra fumble.

I remember one year writing to FIFA recommending the award for Marc Vivien Foe, because he gave his life for football.
And FIFA actually did reply and in that answer, they informed that Foe would be honoured but this award is the result of voting by National coaches and Captains.
FIFA has no influence on this matter. It is purely up to the 178 coaches and captains around the world and they cannot vote for a player from their own country.

So who do you think the various coaches will vote?
Zidane, Henry, Cannavaro, Klose or Ronaldinho? (The likely shortlist),

Well it is player of the year, but I think it may be voted more on people's memories of player performances in the world cup. We all know how they played there, but we must remember that their entire years performance not just their WC one is what should be looked at and judged. Though I doubt that will be the case. Who knows with FIFA really. Too much political correctness to be clear cut. Guess we have to wait and see, but I think they will go with Cannavaro who had a great WC tournament. I'm not sure what the rest of his playing year was like. We didn't get many Serie A matches here prior to the WC.

I consider you, Italy did no longer seem enjoying that good against Slovakia. It develop into surely a marvel while Slovakia gained and kicked out the international cup champs of 2006. Lippi made a huge mistake, he would desire to've have been given extra newcomers to be on the group. Oh properly, they did tend to submit a combat on the tip of the activity, i ask your self why they did no longer try this on the beginning up nevertheless..

I'm pretty sure it's gonna be an Italian. It'll be no surprise if it was Cannavaro.

It'd be nice if Zidane Henry or Eto'o gets it though
