Need some help please - trying to understand average cost per square foot to install drywall. That would include screwing it into place, cutting as needed, mudding seams, etc...I know that 4x8 sheets are tyically ~$10 each. I am looking for the typical labor associated with that type of work. I think my contractor is taking me for a ride. For about 500 sq feet, I am being charged about $1200. Seems way too much! THANKS!

$1.17 per foot extra for high ceilings and arches. that does not include materials and you also have a very small job I pay 1.17 per foot new construction 300 boards per house.

I had mine installed by hobbits. It took twice as many, but they only charged me beer and weed. Pretty cool, huh?

$2+ a square foot sounds a little on the high side, but not by much. Contracting work does NOT come cheap. The reason they charge a lot is because they know you probably won't do it... I would get some estimates from other local places. The charge here in California is more than what you pay in Connecticut...

for a small job like yours ,as long as there are no detailed cuts or corners i would say between 1.00 to 1.75 a sq. ft., putting the drywall up is easy it's the finishing/spackling that takes time and costs.
