Why is it that every type of entertainment in our culture is distastefull? Everywhere I look, if it's offensive, you better believe it's popular. Music is seen as awsome if it is about a questionable subject matter and has as many curse words in it as possible. Video Games seem so much cooler the more graphic they make them with blood, nudity, and basically anything disgiusting you can think of. Movies are filled with it. All around, think of the most disgiusting, disturbing, and crude thing you can think of and you better believe it's what we consider "Entertaunment." Is anyone else as disgiusted with our sickening culture as I am?

So you have a problem with people because they like certain things? You think they are less than you I suppose, so much of the live and let live. I am an avid video game player, I love movies, I love mainstream music. I don't see the big deal, if you don't like it you don't have to watch or listen to it. You know I hear they sell land cheap in the middle of no where.

Shock sells, so does sex, gore is liked-look at alla the crime shows, and fascination with the mob. Controversy ("offensive" is popular-because it creates controversy as to its level of proper)-controversial topics make the ophone lines at a talk show light up like a christmas tree-money talks-that's why everyone pushes the envelope and tries to out-do the other. My ex-fiance was from Iran, and it took her about a year to get used to what was on TV. This culture is easily bored because they try to escape the fact that also blinds them in the media-which is the fact that they don't have what commercials TELL them they SHOULD want or HAVE. And American entertainment shows them what they don't have, or how people get it, or have gotten it....which helps Americans live vicariously through characters on TV-and also conditions them to believe that this is how people that are happy get, or have, what they SHOULD have, or want.

I think that there's too much information out there for people to process, and so the information that attracts the most attention is the information most likely to be absorbed & assimilated. The people producing that information (be it movies, TV, music, video games, whatever) are aware of this, and so they tend to skew their product toward the sensational in order to get noticed. There's nothing unusual in this; people have been slowing down to gawk at traffic accidents since the invention of the wagon - human nature is what it is, and in order to sell a product to humans, it is often necessary to bring the levels of taste and class a notch or two further down..And when EVERYBODY'S doing it . . .

We still have the option to watch family orientated games, films and tv programs. So as a semi-free society we have allow others freedom of choice.
Sometime our culture maybe outright wrong too, but as for the things we don't like we must allow people freedom to make there choices, we can still make ours.
I for one am worried about how much we are monitered in society as it is, so I guess we need to let others do some things we dislike to enjoy what little freedom we have.

getting there quickly. I was walking in the mall with my 18 month old daughter in the stroller. Victoria secrets has this huge cardboard model of this woman in her short underwear pulling the front of them down and her long hair covering her boobs, my daugther looks at, I tell her she has no brains and continue on.
I mean already my daughter in public saw an image that is unreal at 18 months old!
interesting fact about movies with morals on the link ive provided!

because they like looking at them selves when they are
Nope not at all because that is what I have grown up with.
Anything with the action, and with more blood and stuff the beater it is. Violence is in games is fun, because since you can kill people in really life then why not in a game.
and the nudity, well, some people just can not get any.

I agree. It's almost like we are reverting back to the Roman era. I wouldn't be surprised to see a show based on people fighting in an arena. (Oh wait...that's the ultimate fighting championship.) I'm just disgusted that young people are so overexposed to stuff like that. Most of them don't realize that they are getting so numb to violence that it's easy to dismiss stuff like the columbine shootings.
