I'm writing an essay for english honors and am having a little trouble remembering what a topic sent. is!! Isn't it something that like sums. up the paragraph, like a main idea?

The topic sentence is a sentence that is the main idea of the whole paragraph. The rest of the sentences support this topic sentence and the topic sentence supports the thesis statement.

yeah, it is a specific sentence that states what the topic of the paragraph is.... unless u are talking about a thesis statement, which is at the end of the introduction paragrpah, that let's the reader know exactly what the body of ur essay will be on. i think a topic sentence is in the body, each paragraph has it's own topic....good luck!

A topic sentence states your idea in that paragraph. It should also connect the idea to your thesis. It should direct, letting the reader know what your going to talk about in that paragraph. Don't make it a run on, but use creative diction to transition from one idea to the next and ALWAYS tie it back to your thesis.

properly i'm a blonde and that i HATE being called dumb, except i will't get by a classification in school devoid of being called one. T_T" ok. We were taking a geography quiz in Social analyze, and that i became stuck on a question (everyday me) and it became some thing about what continent had a particular volume of a few landform. i did not recognize the answer, so I leaned over to my guy-chum next to me, and whispered "is appropriate united statesa. a continent?" properly i must have spoken too loud because the total nook of the lecture room the position i became sitting began to burst out in uncontrollable laughter.... I had not in any respect felt like better of a retard in my total life!! playstation . i became later counseled by skill of my instructor that no, appropriate united statesa. isn't a continent. ><

if you're in english honors, you ought to know that your topic sentence=your thesis statement or the idea within each paragraph. it's the idea you re trying to argue for or prove.

and please don't blame it on being blonde. it gives the rest of us a bad name, and frankly i am tired of that excuse.
