i dont think there is a doubt.....leyland should win in a landslide. the national league manager of the year should be much closer between the recently fired joe girardi who guided the marlins and the mets willie randolph.

Ah, my favorite subject!
Jim Leyland!
I think he is a very strong canidate for AL Manager of the Year.
Ron Gardenhire should not be dismissed either. Nor should Joe Torre (considering his big players were hurt all year and he still won).
But in my own biased opinion it's Jim Leyland hands down!
In Jim Leyland's favor is the fact that he took a team that was 20 games under .500 last year, and was pegged to finish under .500 again this year.
The fact that he took this team to the playoffs (for the first time on years!) is nothing short of amazing! Regardless of how The Tigers finish the post season Jim Leyland should win MOY!

He is an exceptional manager and if he doesn't win AL Manager of the Year, then we know the fix was in. I'm not sure he is one of the best of all time. After all he did win 3 division titles in a row with the Pirates from 1990-92 and yet never got to the Series with them. (Although Game 7 in '92 was as heartbreaking a loss as a team could ever endure) However he could manage my team anyday.

I agree Jim Leyland should be the manager of the year, and I hope that Joe Girardi does too.

Depends on who wins. If they go all the way, he's manager of the year, despite about the suckiest September of any team that made the playoff.
If they lose in the first round then he's just another schmuck.
If he's so great then why have they been sucking wind so badly. Let's just hope that someone can take down the Skankees.
