When downloading .avi files online, everything seems to go fine, I unzip them, and then when I try to load them in any players, I get an "unknown compression in the file" error message. I was thinking maybe my winzip isn't up-to-date?

I have Windows XP, and just bought the computer about a month ago, so it should be up-to-date otherwise.

Oh, and I know it's not a problem with the .avi files themselves, because other people have downloaded them just fine, and they have been from various sources. Also, I downloaded other formats of video and they worked. This is ONLY with .avis.

Thanks in advance!

Any ideas?

A new player isn't going to help.

My avi files are not opening. At all.

They are either not downloading correctly, or not being unzipped correctly.

Just wondering what might cause that, how to fix it.
