You can't find the simplest answer there, nor can you actually mail anything or process or buy anything. You still have to shlep down there and stand in line like in 1812.

If you are talking about usps.com then you are wrong.

I've been to this website countless times to find out some sort of postal information.

If you have your own scale, and can measure a package, they can tell you how much postage you need. Just one helpful feature.

The problem is you have to know how to use it. The USPS is a very big, complicated organization that is subject to not only US, but also international restrictions. You really need to take some time to learn about all the different parts of the website such as the fact that there are areas that are tailored to those just checking on parcel tracking and the different sections for residential and commercial mailers. Most of all use the search engine is a way that is going to help you the most, ie ask your questions in more than one way if the first search does not yield your desire.

If you do a bit more exploring you will find that you can order stamps, order a pickup, print postage and many other things. You can also download manuals for further consultation at your leisure.

Simple, it's not their money, it's yours. I'm sure there are kickbacks or bribes here too. Anytime the LAW regulates or controls a business or service, the consumer get screwed big time. Government is in the business of granting licenses to steal that's all that's to it
