I'm assuming you are looking at laying in a stone border. Very easy. All you have to do is figure out the overall length of your border, if you are using 3" to 4" sized field stone, dry laid, basically one layer thick, plan on it being roughly 100lbs for every 10 linear feet.

But the important thing is to get your measurements correct, then go to your local stone supply, trust me they are WAY cheaper than even trying to go to Home Depot or Lowes, and explain to them what you are looking for, what sized rock you want, and how long the perimeter is for your grass. They will EASILY know what you are trying to do and get you a good estimate on what you want. Hey its ok to be the FNG when it comes to this. And dont worry, they wont rip you off. If you have more than one stone, masonry or landscaping supply place near you, all the better.

Ask the people at the rock yard to figure it out for you. Just give them the dimensions to be filled and they know how to do the math.
