he grew 5 inches....
so, first convert his original height to inches:
62 inches
5 inches/62 inches = 0.0806 = 8.06% = 8.00% (rounded)
he has grown 8.0% to now be 67 inches
check:
8.0% * 62 inches = 5 inches
62 + 5 inches = 67 inches !! :)

He grew 5 inches. Convert 5'2" into inches
12(5) +2 in
62 inches
to find out the percent, divide 5 by 62 on a calculator
approximately .0806
which is 8%

Convert John's height into inches.
How much taller is John now than at the beginning of the year? You can find that by simple subtraction.
What percentage is that amount, of his height (in inches) at the beginning of the year? Since this question is about percentages, I'm assuming you can take the last step.
good luck

well griffin t. trust me on this answer and figure out how to do it. first you subtract 5'2" from 5'7" which equals 5", then you put the 5" over the original height(5'2"=62"), so you have 5"/62", divide it out so you get .0806, multiply by 100 to get percent(8.06) then finally round it to the nearest percent(8%) and that is your answer

Well I would break it down to the simplest form.
5'7" = 67" = 100%
5'2" = 62" = Starting point
(100/67)*62 = 92.53
100-92.53 = 7.47 percent
7% would be my answer.
