People of all abilities, ages, and education levels seem to choose to do terrible things while knowing beforehand that what they are about to do is wrong. Some people do it for revenge, fear, sex, money, power, a cheap thrill, etc., and they often seem very proud of their excuse when justifying their behavior. What causes this phenomenon and what is the name of it? There must be some German word.

So, are people addicted to screwing up? Nobody is perfect, right? My mother would like to belive that Satan and/or evil spirits influence malignant behavior, but that's just ... well, what do you think?

Oh, and have you seen that movie Do the Right Thing? What did you think about it? How might it relate to this question... haha, like any of you will actually respond to all these questions. But I sincerely hope you do. I also hope you enjoyed earning 2 points for your 4-5 word answer.

Everyone is looking for happiness in their own way. We all want to feel safe, get approval, and take control. No such thing as right or wrong, just extreme ways of doing things. Don't judge!

I think it's all in how you're raised. I have some friends that raised four boys. The whole time they were growing up it was always fun at their house and my boys liked going there because of the lack of rules. But as they got older those boys got into a lot of trouble and there always seemed to be drama in the house. Drugs, theft of families property, sneaking out of the house, car accidents, fights, jail time etc. The parents were very nice people but never set an example of right and wrong to their kids. I hated being the rule enforcer but it sure payed off when my boys grew up and became law abiding citzens. I don't want to be a goody two shoes but I hate looking over my shoulder for the world to come crashing down.

Its called peer pressure. People mostly my age (15) feel the need to impress their friends, and vice versa. So they do what their friends do to seem cool, and so they won't lose their friends, so they do drastic things. There is a little bad in all of us, that has the need to rebel every once in a while, but some people don't do such dramatic things as others do. And I don't know one person that doesn't regret it when they get older and wiser. Your mother is right, satan makes us do bad things called sin, to disobey God and follow him. When we do bad things, we are worshipping him. Hope I helped!

No. It's free will most of the time.

Maybe it's predestined here and there, but most of the time these are normal people just out to get you and they don't give a hoot! It's THEM first and no one else second.

Some people don't really care about doing the right thing or don't think that it is important... That may have to do with their values, standards, upbringing, personality, individual flaws, etc...
