Ignore them because if you talk about them behind their back you are just stooping to their level. There is not much you can do to stop it and if that is the only way they spend their time, that is just sad.

Turn around and look at them. Seriously, it sucks. If you're a kid, see if an adult who knows the kids involved can solve the problem. If you're an adult, talk to the person in front of people and tell them what you want them to know and to do.

Ignore them but be aware they are not your friend, never trust them again. If you try to do something about it you may make a fool of yourself and you don't want that so just ignore them.

walk up to them and ask "what have I done to offend you why are you talking about me." Do it every time hear something Do it in front of a lot of people.
