Official Zelda Movie Announced
March 31st, 2006 at 11:54 pm by The Missing Link
In the wake of the unveiling of the trailer for the unofficial Zelda movie, it seems as if Nintendo has decided to finally follow suit.
Nintendo today has officially announced the coming of a Zelda movie and has a teaser trailer up on the official movie site. The movie, simply titled The Legend of Zelda is scheduled to come out this winter in the last months of 2006. Unlike the unofficial movie, Nintendo’s film is not slated to be a rehash of any of the games so far released; instead, we are going to be seeing a brand new story unfold on the silver screen. However, Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf will be in the film. Casting information at this point is very sparse, but we do know Johnny Depp will be playing Link, Jessica Simpson will be playing Zelda, Patrick Stewart will be Ganondorf, and Morgan Freeman will be playing the part of some new, unannounced character.
I don’t know about you guys, but I have mixed feelings about this. I’m of the opinion that a Zelda movie could be a really powerful thing… but at the same time, it is pretty much playing with fire. The teaser trailer shows very little of what the movie will be about, and I’m really worried about the project, especially with the casting of this. Nayru love Johnny Depp for playing an excellent Capt. Jack Sparrow, but Link? Colour me unimpressed.

Nintendo are adamant that an official Legend of Zelda movie will not be made. That means that fans who wish to see a Zelda movie have been left to their own devices. However, most of these never progress beyond mere ideas, a couple of pages of script, or maybe a short video of a guy running around with a sword.
The Hero of Time (The Legend of Zelda) is an independent Zelda movie that a small group of producers and film buffs called "BMB Finishes" have been making. They have been working on this movie for the past two years, and it is now nearing completion. It is a fully independent production that when finished will be promoted as a festival piece, as well as being a fan film. All of the people working on the movie are big fans of the Zelda series, and they have put a ton of creativity and effort into this film. The movie is being directed by Joel Musch, who also produces the film along with David Blane.
The movie's story is roughly based off that of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Link, who has been raised by the Kokiri, is sent to Hyrule City by the Great Deku Tree. Once there, he meets Princess Zelda who tells him what the Triforce symbol on his hand means and exactly who he is,
Meanwhile, Ganon has arranged a banquet for the king, but this gesture, seemingly in good faith, is actually a part of his evil scheme. At the banquet, the king is poisoned, and Ganon overthrows the kingdom. Link flees to the Temple of Time and takes the Master Sword, but is shocked when he finds he has suddenly traveled into the future. Link discovers that it is a bleak future, for Ganon has destroyed the land, and so he sets out to find Zelda. Along the way he meets Sheik, and learns that he will need the help of the sages to defeat Ganon. After he defeats demons that are guarding the sages, Link returns to Hyrule where he confronts donzens of Gerudo warriors and ultimately fights Ganon.
Along the way, other characters from the game make appearances, including Saria, Impa, Malon and Talon.
The movie has already been filmed and is nearing the final stages of production, with just animation and CGI left to complete.

I've heard about it sounds like it might be good but since it's not an official Legend of Zelda movie and is not endorsed by Nintendo I just pray that it doesn't turn out to be another piece of crap movie like that lame a s s Super Mario Brothers movie. Which in my opinion was a total disgrace the entire Mario Brothers series (and that's putting it lightly) because I'm sorry but The Legend Of Zelda is just too good of a series to be disgraced in such a manner and whoever's creating this film is going to have some awfully high standerds to live up to and the actor playing Link is going to have some awfully big boots to fill.

that is what they suggested lower than the movie. wish this helped. i wanted THE movie TO BE genuine also. I WENT TO YAHOO to be certain. to undesirable its no longer even with the actuality that laud the particularly envisioned launch of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for Nintendo's new Wii console, we idea we would want to have a touch fan boy relaxing and play studio boss... plotting our own movie version of the lengthy-operating fantasy on line interest franchise. even as there is not any longer an certainly movie depending on the game sequence in progression, we anticipate of that's intense time that Hollywood and Nintendo were given hip to the idea of a Legend of Zelda movie. Who knows? possibly they're going to examine our alternatives for author, director, solid, and so on., and get inspired
