Why is it cheaper to buy a new printer with ink in it,than buy a new ink cartrige?

They want you to buy the printer so they make it cheap. Because when you own the printer you have to buy the ink. Manufacturers are smart. Lose money on the printer but gain it back on the ink.

It saves money because Manufacturers underprice the printer with ink because then you have to buy ink again which is about 70 dollars for all the colors including black. Also since black is used more, black often costs more than the colors. Buying a new printer ssaves money but wastes time intalling the printer. Unless you keep the ink and sell the pinter if it is the same model.

It is called Gillette Marketing after what the Gillette company did in the 1970's. They just about gave away razors knowing you would have to buy razor blades forever. Many printers don't come with full ink cartridges.

It all depend on what kind of printer you have. You could also use generic ink if you don't want to spent a lot of money.

It's not. Cartridges cost me $12 each (4 cartridges). After rebate, my printer cost $69.

consumer economics.
more money is made on cartridges.
i prefer canons as ink is cheap
or just bite the bullet and get a laser
