Huge faux pas. Next time, stick a fork in your pants and offer it to that person and say, "But I only scratched my a$$ with it...."

Definately a serious social fau paux. An unused utensil should be offered. Exceptions being close family & very very close friends, and most definately little children.
If it were offered to me, I would initially hestitate to make sure the person wasn't joking (while attempting to stifle a laugh after hearing the "I only licked it once" part). If they weren't, then I would graciously accept it and almost immediately "accidentally" drop it on the floor. Oops - clumsy me!

I would take it if I know the person..but yes, it would be common to be offered by unused fork instead

I don't like to eat after others so I would have declined the offer. He/she should have offered an unused utensil.

I consider that very bad manners and sick. I would just reach over and get a clean spoon or fork and try it, you don't know what kind of germs they have. I wouldn't even do it if it was my best friend.

Can I throw it away for you? or I'll find an unused one but thank you.

depends how good looking they were and the chances of sharing saliva with them later - If they are good looking it's a nice "in" to play with said spoon seductively ......

I'd offer them the toilet paper I only used once.

I'd just say no thanks, I think I'll look for my own spoon. Miss Manners would not be impressed!!
