Our birth rate is declining. So, people are having smaller families. But also keep in mind that as countries get richer, they tend to have less babies. Look at Europe. No one is havin' kids over there. But, that doesn't mean that everyone in a country is rich! Also, more educated people tend ot have fewer kids. So as Latinos immigrate into the US, it's going to take a generation of people or two to get many of them education and economically secure. One Latinos are in the country long enough, other than race, they start to look a lot like other Americans on education and wealth and such. Sooner or later, their birth rate will go down too.

Personally, I think it's great they are having kids. Why? Because we have SO MANY OLD PEOPLE!!! And not enough people of working age to support our economy in the coming decades. Without a young population, social security will fail (if not already) and families will loose wealth because their money is going to care of older family member more than investment. I think we need a youthful population if America is going to survive (long term).

If you want to know how other countries are doing, check out this document:

It's got all the birth and death rates, and a whole bunch of other cool stuff on all the countries in the world. Fun in a geeky way.

I think the birth rate is going down for caucasions, or mainly for educated folks. It's true, only stupid people are breeding, maybe that's going a little far but it is partly true.
