I just read an article in our local paper entitled "Westboro Baptist Church won't picket girls' funerals". This is the "church", and I use this word loosely, best known for picketing military funerals. They had planned to picket the funerals of the Amish girls who were shot in their school. They called it off because they agreed to one hour of airtime on a radio station in exchange for not picketing the funerals. I'm so angry at these people, I don't even have words to describe how I feel. Anyone mourning the death of a loved one should be able to grieve in peace! Is anyone else as ticked off about this as I am?

There are appropriate times and places to voice your opinion, political or otherwise. A funeral is neither the time nor place. Period.

Those people are ridiculous! The soldiers who they're protesting died for their right to protest. In the case of the Amish girls, these people just want to be left alone with their lives. They don't bother anyone and no one should bother them. There is a time and a place for everything. A funeral isn't a time to protest somthing, esp. when it's not even related.

They did the same thing here in my town at a military funeral. They agreed to not protest for 30min's of radio air time. The local talk show guy used to be a pastor. The spokes women for this dearranged bunch of nut cases was quoting scripture. The radio host was all over it. It was a fiery converstation. She could not get one past him. Let me tell you these people are sick. Most of them are of the same family and are lawyers. They are out of Kansas City and claim to be Baptist. THEY ARE SICK SICK SICK..........
But there is a group of bikers who have been ralling at the funerals and surrounding them so the nutso can't get close to the cemetary

Just a bunch of Kook Dirtbags. These are the same clowns that run around protesting soldier's funerals, and then picketing colleges with signs that say 'God hates fags'. They really do a good job of making us normal christians look bad.

Speaking as a person of faith, these idiots protesting these funerals somehow in the name of God are no good subhuman pieces of amphibian shizit. I pray someone looses their mind at one of these funerals one day due to their overwhelming grief and mows every one of these azzholes down with an AK-47. You know it's gonna happen!!! I just hope it's sooner rather than later so these idiots can be put out of their freakin' misery!!!

I didn't hear or read about it. What on earth would they be picketing at the Amish funeral? The war? Guns? Zealots!

Yes-why would they picket the Amish girls' funerals? The govt didn't kill them. (well, possibly by not having strong enough laws for murder and sex offenders).

I totally agree with you! What also bothers me is they call themself Baptist! I'm a Baptist and our church (Southern Baptist) would never do such a thing. We are mourning the deaths and praying for the parents, siblings and the community. Please don't think this is a Baptist thing, it is not! Thank you for asking this question, I was thinking about asking it myself. God Bless.

Yes. If I were in the states, I'd probably do something stupid in my anger. I guess its good for me that I'm over here. My heart breaks for the parents of those who died, and to see that those creeps were even considering it... It may have pushed me into full bear mode were I near enough. I guess I should be glad I'm here not there.
