Run a mixture of 40% vinegar and 60 % water through it. If it is a coffee maker run it twice and then twice with just water. If it is an electric kettle boil the mixture once and rinse it. You were a little vague on what kind of coffee pot.

you have to scale the pot. basically, t his means running a cycle or two without any coffee grinds/beans, just use VERY HOT water and white vinegar. you can also throw in a lemon if you like. do it at least once, then wash the pot again in regular soap and water, and it's almost guranteed that the funny taste will be gone. sounds crazy, but it works. try it!

I'd let it soak with hot water and a couple of teaspoons of baking soda, then run through the complete coffee-making cycle with that same mixture, only with cold water and baking soda this time. That should "sweeten" the coffee pot. Run plain water through the entire coffee-making cycle at least twice more to rinse completely.

Definately run the vinegar through the coffeemaker, followed by the water a few times. Should take care of it.
The ice and salt only works to clean the decanter!

Run vinegar through it, then run water through it 5 times. They also have a cleaning chemical at the grocery store.

forget all that vinegar tuff, your pot will taste nasty,,europeans use citrus powders in the water and there is some here in the states,, just look around the appliance areas,, also use concentrated lemon juice,, instead of vinegar,, its citrus and taste better than vinegar in your coffee
