As of right now they are eligible to collect except for any time they spend incarcerated. Without such a law--what stops them from being unethical since the risks of getting caught are so slim and the pay-offs so attractive?

If it was a serious crime, it would be great.

But can we get real justice, or would it just be political?
Clinton could have been charged for many crimes, including accepting campaign money from China, but he wasn't. That could have been called treason. If Bush would do that, he would be charged with treason.

However, some little Representative could get nailed because of politics.
If it could be done honestly, it would be great. Good thinking. Thank you.

Well the first thing before this would be to remove them from office. There are more convicted felons in congress than in the NFL.

go figure. and based on that you will never get them to approve of either.

Congress, collectively......needs to be dumped in the landfill...and we need to start with new rules, guidelines and regulations...new laws..that keep Congress under the public thumb.

Right now.....once you get in politics and go to DC.....you are kind of on a different planet.

Yeah, that would be nice. Since the matter is decided by congressmen themselves however, it's not likely they'll revoke their own pension

Everything should be revoked. That's one of the worse problems we have; none of them every get held accountable. There should be a special prison where we can all visit and knick them.

Yes! We take away other rights of people who aren't in congress, so why let them be special?
