When you speak to God he is listening and you do not necessarily need to be praying. You can be in meditation.
God speaks to his followers and when he does you will know it is him and no one else. The skeptics and zealots who scoff are not true believers and thus they are not ready to hear God. If you truly have turned your life over to God he will talk to you. There is no reason to be kept where ever you are because God talks to you.

just make sure it's God speaking to you. why do you think it is Him? He speaks to all believers in one way or another, usually through others. look inside yourself and check a few things like, are my meds up to date? and if they are, maybe.
