There are 6 screw in all, Their is one in each corner of the xbox under each rubber. And one under the silver sticker and one under the silver bar code sticker, use your finger on the sticker to feel the holes. Take the top off and you will see a black box where the disc go's in there are 4 screw holding this in. and there is 4 more holding the cover on the drive, then you sure get your disc.
P.s hope this helps

I usually just cut the tape and open a box, but an xbox... hmm... sounds like an abstract theoretical pandora's box object... I would try putting tape on it it may help :P
Realistically, you should take it to a second-hand repair store, maybe they can help. If all doesn't go well, then try to first figure out the type of screw the XBox uses, then get a long screwdriver (the screws are usually recessed, so they are harder to access, this is intentional for obvious reasons.). Retrieve your disk, watching out for little stickers. If you peel one of these stickers back too far, the message "Void" will show up, showing that you voided your warranty. If it's in a metal case, you will have to try to figure out how to get it open, but be careful. Even when unplugged, the circut can hold residual electric chage in the capacitors. Touch a terminal, and I don't think you will be on Answers much anymore...
At any rate, I would send it to Microsoft claiming it defective, ask for a replacement and retrieval of the disk. They can recycle old XBoxes, and if you are kind they may even transfer the hard disks. Good luck!

If you're sure what you're looking for inside, then in order to open it there are some screw like things on the bottom that you need to take off. I think 4 are in the corners, one is under a sticker, and another is somewhere else. When you take those off, remove the cover and look inside for the drive. You may have to pry the drive open, or you could just try prying the drive open which I really don't recommend if you want to keep the XBOX and use it again. Whatever you do, don't smash it open, that will break the CD.

YArrr! I be agree'in with tha pirate lass above. Ye needs to be using a sledge on that X-Box. But really, if ye be sly ye could use a paper clip to be picking the locks to get your disc out. Simply bend the wire straight as the sails in a gale and stick the wire in the tiny porthole on the edge of the drawer. Be pushing it in right, and ye should bust open the locker and ye goods be pouring out. Aye, Good Luck Ye Scaliwag, and don't be breakin anything else.

Hi, does the X-Box have a tray, if so does it have a small hole on the front of it, try bending a paperclip and pushing the end of it throught the hole, this should free the tray, I have done this loads of times on my PC and it works.

Flip it upside down. In the four corners there are pads, remove them, the screws are underneath.

The best thing to do would be to buy a new one, then return the old one to the shop in the new one's packaging and say it wasn't working when you bought it. Naughty, but then the Xbox should have lasted longer than this.
