In my lifetime, i have met two very nice gay men. They were both gentlemen and i liked them alot (as friends of course). My "phobia" with gay men is that (and I may be partially right) the HIV/AIDS virus can ALSO be contracted by gay men due to their sexual practices. I already know that it is also in the heterosexual community as well. I just wouldn't want to see any of my loved ones (men) be gay, because I don't want to see a good person unnecessarily die. Do you understand what I am trying to say? I mean no offense, seriously.

I also understand that not everyone with HIV/AIDS dies, but I wouldn't want to see them contract the illness. either.

Well it's a form of SIN.
It's not natural. Think about it. Have you ever seen or heard of 2 of the same sex animals having sex? Likes 2 feamles dogs or 2 males deer getting each other up the butt?
Do magnets attract each other when 2 negs meet? ot 2 postives sides meet? It's a law of science but not a law of man. Humans are evil and need to come to the LORD and ask for forgiveness. I am considered RADICAL and EXTREME for my beliefs and now I am the outcast.
This country will eventually destroy itself. It's just like the GREAT Roman Empire. They were obsessed with Hedonism. Sex, and entertainment. One day the Pro Sports stadiums will be filled with people shouting to God. Too many things will come to pass. I need my LORD for peace and happiness.

I understand your question. The issue at hand is that you haven't had anybody really sit you down and answer your questions realistically. I'll try to help. Your suggesting, even if you're trying not to, that gay people have a higher risk of contracting the HIV virus due to their sexual practices. In truth, it's got nothing to do with your orientation. I, as a gay man, have no higher risk than a straight man. Back in the 80's when the public became more aware of the issue it was indeed largely a homosexual problem. However, it wasn't confined to homosexuals and it began to spread among the straight community as quickly as the gay community. There is a solution. Wear a condom! Regardless of your sexual orientation you should wear one to protect yourself or the person you're with. Or (however unrealistic this may be for a lot of people) practice abstinence and simply don't have sex. It's not a gay problem or straight problem. It's a human problem.

I think you didn't word your question all too well. I'm not even sure if I understand what you're getting at here.
Honey, gay men don't usually have sexual intercourse with women. So, their "sexual practices" doesn't affect you in anyway...unless they've had bisexual practices with you. Then you might have reason to have your "phobia."
You do know it cannot be trasmitted through casual contact like handshaking, hugging or even closed mouth kissing, right?
You do realize that HIV the virus that causes AIDS doesn't descriminate between gay or straight victims, so why not find out more about how the virus is actually transmitted?
Go to accredited medical websites and learn more about it's transmission. Learn that you have nothing to fear in being friends with gays or straights, infected or not.
If I've missed the mark, please let me know. As I did say, I wasn't so sure what you were attempting to get at with your question...I'm still not sure if it was even a question or not.
Thanks

Ok, while I do think that you did indeed ask this question to be offensive, I'm going to answer it the best I can. AIDS does NOT just spontaneously appear out of nowhere just by having gay sex. One person has to have it and give it to the other through means of exchanging bodily fluids. Not every gay man has AIDS and it is actually becoming more frequent in heterosexual women. So think about that before you ask something like this again.

I think we all understand what your trying to say. But look at all points. It's not just homosexuals who die from unnecessary deaths. What about your friends that smoke ciggaretts? Or for that matter the ones who don't even smoke, but end up getting cancer? Or your friends that drive too fast/ They could get in a car accident. And others that have staph infections and nemonia. No matter what kind of friends you have, there will be times in your life that you will have to deal with unnecessary deaths. There are a lot of diffrent things we could do to try to prevent these deaths, some may help and others are just meant to be. No matter what the world is a cruel place and people get hurt regardless of their sexual prefrence. If being with the same sex makes them happy in this life-then let them be ya know. Anyhow I do understand and your not wrong, but look at all angles :)

I understand where you are coming from...I had a lesbian friend that did not want to meet any new gay men...bec they got HIV and died...this was 15 years ago....within a couple years of making that statement, she died and left her friends behind...my point...anyone can die of anything...not everyone will get HIV/aid..I am 47 and HIV-....you could step off the curb tomorrow and get run over by a bus...enjoy them while you are all around...you never know when someone will be gone...don't worry about tomorrow...enjoy today...

Okay, first of all, people are b*tching at you because you're uninformed. You may know that it can be contracted anywhere, but the point YOU'RE missing is that AIDS/HIV is more prevalent amongst HETEROS than amongst homosexuals. Every other country got AIDS/HIV through a hetero couple. It just so happens that it was spread here through a gay couple... why don't people realize this...?

Well! Why don't you look at statistics?
How many Gay men of ALL THE GAYS on planet earth have gotten AIDS compared to those who have NOT gotten it?
Go from there. Maybe, you'll think more logically / realistically.
There are other statistics you should consider also.
Have you even considered how many Gay men are actually monogamous and faithful with their spouses?
Have you even compared how many Straight men sleep around compared to how many Gay men do?
Do some study on the matter, and let us know what you learn.
PS: Yes, I am aware that finding out who all of planet earth since as far back as we can know have been Gay men would be virtually impossible to find out. Still, I think my point is clear.

Homosexuals do not have AIDs any more than straight people. Your straight friends are just as likely to get it as your homosexual friends. As long as they do not shoot up heroine, have anonymous, crazy and unprotected sex with a lot of people, they should be fine. You should encourage ALL of you friends, regardless of their sexual preference to have safe sex and be clean. The only people I have ever known who had AIDs were both straight and they contracted this because of drug abuse many years ago. I know quite a few gay people, males and females, and none of them have ever even had a STD.
EDIT: You are mad no one is getting your point, but you said you didnt want to have a gay person in your family or friends because you did not want them to get AIDs, what were trying to tell you is that anyone, even the straight members of you family and friends can get AIDs, gay people are not more likely to get it than anyone else which is what you said. As long as the people in your family or friends dont use drugs or have unprotected sex, they will be fine, straight, gay whatever. Just encourage them to live healthy and safe life styles and AIDs will not be something they need to worry about.

Gay men don't have any universal "sexual practices". It's those practices which spread STDs, not whether the person in question is attracted to men and/or women. Being gay does not guarantee, or even imply, that a person will do anything dangerous. Being gay itself is not dangerous.

Gays who use condoms every time have little risk of catching the virus.
Being gay isn't a chosen life. If someone is gay, they are gay. There is no argument, no "changing" or any such discussion. Either you deal with it or you don't.
Being Gay hasn't ever killed anyone. Stupidity in handling issues such as HIV kills people.
Why don't you try educating people about HIV instead of worrying about gays?
