i think it mihgt be a vaccum leak like the snorkle has a hole in it

to find it take a can of ether or wd-40 and mist over areas a lillte at a time. this will cause the engine to race thus narrowing down the location of the hole.

Yeah, you have a vacuum leak. Could be a hose or throttle body gasket. Use some carb cleaner from a spray can and spray near the base of the throttle body. When you hear the rpms pick up, you just narrowed down the area of the leak.

Sounds like you got a vacuum leak!!! There is a old trick to find out where it is leaking from, take a propane torch and just turn on the valve(do not light it) and run the tip of the torch around the area you think it is coming from your engine idle should change if there is a vacuum leak present!! um.. i drove a towtruck for six years. Chevy's have an issue with their fuel system, primarily the fuel pump. It always has this high pitched sound. Also recheck when the timing belt was last replaced because it should be changed atleast every 60k.
