You can start off with a air intake and a performance exhaust system, but if it is a turbo car you can play with the waste gate and bring up the boost or put a bigger turbo on it!! If it is not a turbo car start with the stuff I said at the beginning and add a turbo but you are going to have to put a bigger fuel pump in it! It is all up to you what you want to do and what your budget is!! Good luck!!

Find a rotary specialy shop that really knows rotary engine porting. When you port a rotary, it the same effect as changing the camshaft lift and duration in a reciprocating engine. Disadvantages to ported rotaries are:
• loss of low end torque (it gets worse the more you port)
• worse fuel economy than you have right now
• terrible exhaust emissions
• they get insanely loud, and spit fire out the exhaust (this may also be an advantage ;-) )

You can also turbocharge it, but this may be volatile combination (see below).

As a new rotary owner here's a few tips I've learned from other RX-7 owners:
• always let the engine come up to full operating temperature, never shut it down cold. Otherwise, they become tempermental and hard to start.
• Keep a close eye on your engine temperature. Rotaries have poor cooling (I'd also look into water injection as well), and if overheated even once, could require a rebuild
• Don't let the engine ping. Engine knock can take out the apex seals (same function as piston rings) very quickly, again requiring a rebuild

Cold air intake, low pressure exhaust system and maybe a performance chip .
Good Luck and keep your license.
