I would like to know what broad category does windows roaming profile form part of? Is it distributed computing? Or something else? Any ideas? Thanks in advance

That would be under Windows Users and Groups/Profiles/Roaming.

Go to Microsoft Support and log on with your .net passport to access the newsgroups there. This would be under the Windows Managment group. Put your question there and you should get responses right away. I find these groups invaluable and I use them a lot. They are a great bunch of people and are willing to take the time to help others.

I also use a book called Widows XP Inside Out and Widows XP Professional Resourse Toolkit, and Wiindows Server 2003 Inside Out all by Microsoft press and the second two for sure are in e-format online for any to access for free if they choose. You just need a .net passport which you can get via the Users Applet in the Control panel. Select your User Account and choose Link this Account to the .net passport. Easy.

Good luck and I hope you find the answer to your problem.
