depends, umm yeah you could "burn" it ...wont do much good....metal doesn't burn it melts. my suggestion is ebay ...suckers will pay anything for nothing, so if you have something of real value you can get rich quick. pawn shops buy at low price because they have a set value that someone will pay for it so they have to make a profit from what you sell to them for. most jewelry stores don't buy jewelry. ebay is the way or even taking an ad in the local paper. also if the ring has an inscription, the value will decrease. good luck finding someone worth wearing a wedding ring over :)

THe best way to get rid of a wedding ring after divorce is completely up to the person. And giving it back is not actually a good idea...it was a gift so therefore it should not be given back. I had to sell mine to pay some bills because I was on the poor end of things at the time. I paid for car repairs with the money I got...but a pawn shop is not the best place to go with a wedding set...they only give the value of the gold not necessarily the gems in it.

Well you dont need to dispose of it. Do you have a daughter from that marriage? If you do give it to her, because it came from her dad. Or give it to your son to give to a girl one day when he wants to get married. Or if you dont have kids go to a pawn shop and sell it and then you can do whatever you want with the money you get from the ring.

Giving it away to a son or daughter is cool.....however I suggest doing it before you become seriously involved again. My husband and i were about a month away from getting married and it occurred to me to ask what he had done with his old wedding ring (married one time previously and 12 years ago) he told me that he lost it swimming. Later on I was putting our new wedding rings in a fire-proof safe with a lock on it for safe keeping before our own wedding. I found his old wedding ring in the box - unintenionally. I felt very betrayed. Not only that - I felt like he was holding on to that bond he once had with his ex. the ring is a symbol of the love and commitment you have with one person. By him holding onto it made me question his loyalty and devotion to me and our upcoming marriage. He was not intending to give it to his daughter so I had him throw it away. Be careful whenit comes to someone in the future.....holding on to it could lead to feelings of mistrust and uncertainity. We've been married fro four months now and got through the situation just fine!

My engagement ring and wedding band were never sodered together, so I sold my diamond ring on ebay for a decent price (more than 3x what any pawn shop would give me). I saved the band for my daughter. She can do whatever she wants with it when she's older.

Pawn Shop..someone else could put it to better use, I'd get rid of it one way or another.. Pawn Shop seems like it's given a second chance, but whatever you decide to do would be best =) Do what feels right to you =) Goodluck with it !

I dont think there is any one proper way. it depends on what feels right to you. Ive been divorced for 5 years, Im sure mine is laying at the bottom of some drawer somewhere. Some people throw them, some keep them. It depends on what feels right to you

Pawn shop or burial, estate sale or depending on the way it ended, one of the children may desire to have it as a reminder of happier times.

Toss it off a bridge over water, melt it down, lay it on a train track as you would do a penny. Create a ritual of destruction/letting go in your own way, and move on.
