I trained my rabbit to go to the bathroom on newspaper. She does really well but eats the paper none stop. She doesn't seem to have any problems with her bowel movements though, if anything she has an excessive amount of droppings. Should I switch to a liter box or is it ok for her to eat the paper??

She isn't making any nest. Just eats the paper.

Rabbits have a natural instinct to chew everything they see, newspaper included, so this is compleatly normal. As for healthy, it's probably okay in small amounts but too much of the ink might not be too good. Give her lots and lots and lots of cardboard and hay and straw and untreated wood and try using a litter box instead of newspaper. If you put loads of hay (preferbaly Timothy) in it, it's an extra insentive to go there, and its good for their digestion too.

If the rabbit is eating and digesting the paper, that doesn't sound like a good habit to be into. Paper is not a particularly good item in anyone's diet. Can you find something more healthy for the rabbit to chew? Rabbits in the wild eat grasses and other things like that most of the time they are awake. Do you have hay for her? My rabbits did like hay. If you can't buy a bale of hay, maybe hay cubes would work. They come in grass or alfalfa, either would be preferable to newspaper for a rabbit to eat. If you feed hay, give less pellets.
Always make sure lots of fresh water is available. Rabbits usually need something to wear their teeth down, too. Their front teeth grow constantly, unlike many other animals.
Check and see what they have at the pet store. I haven't had any rabbit for a while.

About ten years ago, I helped an old lady with a neighbor's rabbit which had gotten loose and it had three litters in her garage. We took about 15 bunnies and found homes for most, but we kept some in our barn. They had a stall to live in. We had hay for the horses which we gave to the rabbits, along with pellets and other fresh foods.

Very normal and it is ok as most newspapers use soy based ink. That said, it is better if she doesn't eat too much of it at the expense of healthier foods. You might want to consider lining a litter box with the newspaper and then topping if off with hay. Rabbits need access to unlimited hay and this will encourage her to eat hay and maybe minimize the newspaper. You could also just put the hay on top of the newspaper, but that would probably get pretty messy as ours like to play with the hay too.

No animal should have access to paper with ink on it but my hamster eats the plain paper from the printer (when he can get a hold of it) and he is just fine.
Check the link below and see if it helps you at all, good luck with your bunny

It should be fine as long as the ink is soy based. It will normally say at the bottom of the newspaper if it is. If you don't know, you can ask your local newspaper and they should be able to tell you if the ink is soy based.

it's ok for your rabbit to eat newspaper if the ink is soy-based, which a lot of newspapers now use.
if you notice that most of the paper seems to be in her stomach and not laying around, you might cut back, it isn't good for them to eat lots of it.

Ripping and tearing and shredding is fine, however, because they like to build nests. good luck!

The rabbit may be fed up with reading the crap that is printed on the newspaper.
