You may not like my answer, but by todays players, Jeter. he can hit, CLUTCH HITS, run, field and he has the intangible of being at the right place at the right time. Besides, has anyone else made the playoffs every year since they made it into the bigs?? he knows the game and has the smarts. true, Pujols hiots the HR's and RBI, but how many rings does he have? Jeter was a winner in Little league, high school and now Majors
My favorite was Thurmon Munson and Don Mattingly in my time

now- pujols could be the best. but i still ray a-rod is the best. people dont give him enough credit fo what he does.

ever- ruth cuz he had alot less at-bats than Aaron. he would of had way more hr's. also he was a pitcher witch some people dont know. back then they used heavier bats and some walls were 480 ft to center.

Can't argue with a guy that has been an MVP candidate or MVP every year of his pro career.

All-time is tough with the different pitching mound heights, different rules on spitters and stuff, the size and speed of players today, and how hard it is to compare say a first baseman to a shortstop.

Now - David Ortiz - I'm a Yankee fan, but he's a lumber forest at the plate.

Ever - that I've seen play - Wilie Mays. He did it all, hit for average, hit for power, speed, golden glove fielder, clutch hitter.

Now- Helton. Highest active batting average and on-base percentage. 3 time Gold glove.

Ever- Hate to say it because he was a jackass- Ty Cobb. Played hard, great fielder and best hitter ever.
