I am referencing the new Gap commercial which advertises the "skinny black pant."

As nice as it is to look at a happy, dancing Audrey Hepburn, I do find the commercial in bad taste. The dead have no control over their image. Books, portraits, statues, and films may express our feelings for the departed, good or bad, but to use these images to sell product is wrong. The dead person in question seems to be giving their approval to something that they might never okay in life.
What's next? James Dean for Porshe? Rock Hudson for Trojans? John Lennon for Kevlar body protection? Joan Rivers for Botox....oh, wait, she's still alive, right??

I think that if you JUST look at the commercial, it is just fine. I love Audry Hepburn and she is very easy on the eye. But, when I think about the things the other answerers said about people being dead not having any control over their image and perhaps not even approving of the product, THEN I think that perhaps it is not so good. I must agree with them although I do like the commercial. Oh yeah, thanks for the answer to my question.

No I dont find it in bad taste. I think she would be flattered, although it is a bit corny

We have a commercial here in NC advertising Tennessee and it features Dolly Parton and Elvis Presley, and it is cute.

She quit acting in her later years and worked for UNICEF, she was a survivor of the Nazi Occupation and a lifetime worker for humanitarian causes. I don't think she would be happy shilling for a company that recently outsourced to third world sweatshops.

I don't think it's in bad taste, but it certainly is stupid.
