i have valuable data on the hard disk that is broken

The HDD is probably bad -- you need to slave it in another computer to see if you can get your data off of it. You can slave it in a desktop, or get a USB enclosure and connect it like an external drive. That way the computer won't be booting off that hard drive, but hopefully the drive is working well enough for you to recover your data.

Replace the hard drive. You can try attaching the failed one as a slave to capture the data; if you are lucky it will spin up long enough to transfer what you want. It is also possible that your software is corrupted (unlikely or you would not get that error) or that you have a boot sector virus. Good luck.

turn the comp of by holding the power button, then turn it on while holding the f11 key, follow the directions from there, you might have to sweep everything off your hard drive... sorry for the bad news

Get a new hard drive. Your old one failed. They do that after a while. Keep backups.
