It will only connect if you have a wireless router at home or at the stores (plus internet access).

You could get yourself an AirCard and then you don't have to worry about installing internet at each of you stores. You would have wireless internet access just about anywhere.

Are your stores outfitted for the wifi connection? You need a router configured properly and then the adapter for your laptop configured as the router is in order for a connection to be made. It is a simple but many stepped process, one which is too difficult to outline here. I reccomend this book:

Absolute Beginner's Guide to Home Networks. By Mark Edward Soper. Now, I know it says "home" networks, but what is in this easy to read and easy to follow chocked full of prime instructions book is applicable to your situation. Just go and pick up a copy at your local Barns and Nobles book store or what ever book store you prefer of even at your local Fry's Electronics store.

This book will walk you through all you need to properly configure both the router and the notebook adapter for a connection.

One thing you can try is this: Go into the Network Connections in your notebook. On the window right click the connection you are using and select Properties. A new box will appear with a lot of stuff on it relating to your connection. Now, you need to ensure that the Network you are attempting to connect to is at the top of the list of your preferred networks. It it is not there, or not on the llist at all you will need to add it manually. Click Add and then follow the instructions for adding a network connection. The book is your best bet though.

Good luck and I hope you get this fixed really soon as it is a headache not being able to get your work done the way you want to do it.

Try this for a lot of the questions you might have http://www.chicagotech.net/wireless.htm
Another solution would be to use bluetooth, fast file transfer and sharing or internet. you will need an adapter for each computer hopefully you have USB connections on all machines. http://www.palowireless.com/bluetooth/
