My daughter is thinking about buying a 1000 sq ft. fixer upper house, built in 1960. It has a fuse box that needs to be updated. What is the cost?

Between 1500 and 2000. It's expensive to get anyone to touch that in a house that old.

lowes and i think home depot sell complete boxes with breakers for between 100 and 200 bucks,if no major wiring is needed a simple switch and installation may cost about 2oo to 500 bucks.

If you are upgrading the fuse box to breakers, you may also want to up the Amps...total price...1200 to 1800...and well worth it..

We were told the box was about $75 bucks. Plus the electricians labor.

If you can do it yourself it can be done for about 100 To hire a pro about 300-500. You should only do it if you have complete knowhow to do the job, it can be deadly.
