It probably depends on who you talk to. You may be confident around people you know and trust but shy around people you dont know or like.

You are absolutely normal. Your shyness appears out of the blue, because you have stepped into an event that is very important to you. No one gets shy ordering something at McDonalds. But trying to make a good impression on someone will bring shyness up in New York minute. Everyone is that way.

Your confidence is like your outer shell, but you can't constantly wear that shell. Sometimes the turtle pops his head out and maybe someone is looking and can see throught the windows in your eyes! Inside we are all have a little child, some people keep that child hidden better than others! Could be your confidence is knocked when someone knows better than you or you are actually hearing someone rather than just listening!!

I'm the same way, most of the time confident, but when a new unknown situation arises I become shy. just learn from it.

some times turning shy is because you met someone that makes you feel indifferent . someone that you haven't been around , maybe the way they act or talk. you are not sure how to take the person as a person.

I have no idea. It's ok to be shy. I am too. Try not to be overconfident though.

It might be because you're all talk and no backbone---no offense---or because you just feel like you can do something, but something-or you-just changes your mind.

It's called false bravado. Try being yourself, instead of who you aren't.
